For most of us living in the industrialized world, we are surrounded by abundance. Unless you are living in a third world country where basic necessities such as food and clean water are hard to come by, those of us in modern times are lucky beyond measure, with lives filled with opportunities, options, and wonders never seen before in the history of civilization.

Consider the computer, a magical tool that allows us to communicate with others across the globe, or the television, which allows us to experience the lives of others and be exposed to new worlds and cultures right from the comfort of our living room.

In the midst of financial struggle, we sometimes forget that we do have a roof over our heads, food to eat, and people around us who love us. Even if we are going through a rough patch, we can put our faith into a higher power, whether you call that God or “the universe,” and trust that our basic needs are being met.
